VMFA Exhibition Fund

The VMFA Exhibition Fund supports the museum’s entire exhibition program. From single artist spotlight shows and thematic explorations in our works on paper and photography galleries to major ticketed exhibitions, the VMFA Exhibition Fund ensures that there’s always a new reason to visit the museum.

Why do exhibitions matter?

The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts is committed to mounting significant exhibitions showcasing a range of artworks that offer insights into the global arc of human creativity. Sustaining a robust exhibition program enriches the lives of our visitors and contributes to Virginia’s cultural vibrancy.

    • Exhibitions are a vital part of VMFA’s educational mission. They bring masterworks from across the world to Richmond and offer new insights into VMFA’s encyclopedic permanent collection.
    • A dynamic exhibition program is essential to VMFA’s role as an economic driver in the Richmond region and its success benefits the wider community.
    • Exhibitions have a ripple effect across the museum. They inspire educational opportunities, public programs, and special offerings in the shop and restaurants.
    • Exhibitions showcase the expertise and scholarship of VMFA’s curators, enhancing the museum’s prestige among peer institutions.
