Amuse Bartender (Wage, Non-exempt)

Amuse Restaurant is a contemporary fine dining restaurant overlooking the Robins Sculpture Garden, featuring an innovative menu and fresh, local ingredients. Just like the works of art in the museum and on the walls of Amuse, visitors delight in new masterpiece dishes and cocktails.

This is a non-exempt position without benefits, eligible to work up to approximately 28 hours per week on average and up to 1,450 hours annually (May 1 – April 30).

Flexible Scheduling
The team works to provide reasonable and advanced-scheduling notice to staff within the agreed upon availability. We are open 365 days a year, therefore there are a variety of shifts to work. We are open for lunch service 7 days a week, and offer dinner service on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

About the Work
The work is straightforward, working together to offer an elevated dining experience.

Here is how Amuse Bartenders accomplish this as a team:

  • Develops and uses standard beverage recipes.
  • Prepares bars and keeps them stocked throughout the shift.
  • Stocks back of house areas.
  • Checks ID’s of guests and ensures that all forms of identification are valid.
  • Monitors alcohol inventory to maintain appropriate levels.
  • Maintains tight controls on alcohol throughout shift.
  • Performs accurate recording of all alcohol transfers.
  • Maintains an accurate cash drawer throughout the night and be able to account for any and all discrepancies.
  • Knowledge of ABC policies and guidelines.
  • Develops and uses standard beverage recipes.
  • Completes consumption reports after shift.
  • Preparing drinks based on serving size outlined by management and ABC guidelines.
  • Delivers a consistently high level of customer service to each guest.
  • Adheres to all safety and sanitary practices.
  • Prepares and serves consistent product.
  • Investigates and resolves customer complaints if needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Aptitude for providing excellent customer service.
  • Knowledge of recipes for various alcoholic beverages.
  • Ability to operate calmly, professionally and graciously in a fast paced, high-pressure workplace.
  • Knowledge of basic bar equipment including shaker, strainer, juicer, muddler, etc.
  • Ability to set up, maintain, break down bar.
  • Exceptional understanding of Alcohol Beverage Control policies and procedures.
  • Ability to read, write, comprehend and follow directions and instructions.
  • Ability to maintain a professional demeanor and appearance.
  • Ability to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk and hear; and taste and smell.
  • Ability to lift or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand or walk for up to 8 hours.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule to include days, evenings, weekends and holidays.
  • Ability to be prompt and punctual to scheduled shifts.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience as a bartender and/or server.
  • Prior experience in a fast paced, fine dining environment.
  • Prior bartending education and training.
  • Preferred: SERVSafe certification or simila.r
  • Preferred: TIPS (Training for Intervention Procedures) or RSVP (Responsible Sellers and Servers), or similar.

Special Requirements:
