Celebrate the Art of China: Lucky Money Envelope
In Chinese and other Asian cultures, red envelopes are given during holiday gatherings for the Lunar New Year as well as for birthdays, weddings, and graduations. The envelope’s red color symbolizes good luck. Money and notes of good fortune are placed inside and then given to loved ones. Make your own red envelope to give to a friend or family member.
Instructions
- Cut out the red form or template.
- Fold along the dotted lines.
- Glue tabs 1 and 2 to the panel marked “back.”
- On a separate piece of paper, write a nice fortune and place it in your completed envelope.
- Draw a piece of money and place it in your completed envelope as a wish for good luck.
- Try writing “good luck” using Chinese characters
- Give the envelope to someone very special!
