VMFA is thrilled to welcome Tsherin Sherpa back to Richmond in the midst of a momentous year for the Nepalese-born Tibetan American artist. In addition to the opening of his first solo museum exhibition and the premiere of a documentary film exploring his life and work, Sherpa is also representing Nepal in its inaugural Pavilion at the 59th Venice Biennale. For this special evening with Canvas, Sherpa will join Dr. John Henry Rice, E. Rhodes and Leona B. Carpenter Curator of South Asian and Islamic Art, to reflect on the success of Tsherin Sherpa: Spirits at VMFA, these other recent milestones, and further developments on the horizon.
