This figurine is from the tomb of Hor-Wedja, discovered in 1890 by the English archaeologist Sir W.M.F. Petrie in the Faiyum region of Egypt. The tomb yielded the best-preserved, best-documented and highest-quality group of funerary figurines known. The inscriptions reads: “The servant of the goddess Neith, the priest Hor-wedja, born of Shedet.”
