In 1902 Alphonse Mucha published Documents décoratifs, a portfolio of seventy-two lithographic plates. This important publication was a visual encyclopedia of Mucha’s designs for furniture, metalwork, jewelry, textiles, and other objects, as well as studies of abstract or stylized flowers as patterns for designs. The portfolio was regularly used by many art schools as a textbook and influenced an entire generation of artists. The jewelry in this print includes, in the lower central area, a hanging pendant that is similar to Bodice Adornment, the gold pendant also on view in this gallery.
