In 1909 Gustave Miklos left his home of Budapest for Paris. Probably influenced by his friendship with the Cubist sculptor Joseph Csáky, Miklos’s early work reflects the geometric lines of Cubism. In 1919 Miklos met the French fashion designer and art patron Jacques Doucet, for whom he executed various works, including this crystal sculpture that was placed on an ebony table made by Rose Adler, in the next gallery.
