Coxheath Ho! (Primary Title)
Henry William Bunbury, English, 1750 - 1811 (Artist)
Coxheath was the site of a local militia encampment near Maidstone, Kent, in southeast England, roughly halfway between the Channel Coast and London. Bunbury pokes fun at the middle-aged volunteers who hoped to gain glory in military service without the inconvenience of having to fight.
