Garden Pavilions were designed, in part, with inspiration taken from the Qu’ran, the sacred text of Islam. In the Qu’ran, heaven is described as an illustrious garden with rivers flowing from the center. The Garden Pavilion might have been the centerpiece of such a garden, with its central basin and multiple “rivers” of water flowing out in channels from the central pavilion.
