Explore the rich heritage of jazz through the VMFA collection and discover its importance in American life, particularly during the civil rights movement. The beat goes on with ragtime rhythms and big band swing as well as West African drumming. Practice swing dancing with professional dancers, and let your creative spirit jive with the music of Duke Ellington and the art of Romare Bearden and Jacob Lawrence.
