This two-day event features a coalition of museums and community historians who seek to converge diverse histories to form a more just and inclusive public memory in an increasingly polarized society.
This year, for the first time, a Community Conversation will precede the Museum Crawl. On Friday, July 29, at 6 pm, Richmond’s own longtime truth-teller and Pulitzer Prize–winning journalist, Michael Paul Williams, will share his reflections on our city’s progress, challenges, and journey toward embracing the truth about our history. Williams will be joined by representatives from all six participating museums.
The Museum Crawl will take place on Sunday, July 31, 10 am–5 pm. Participants will have the opportunity to see related exhibitions at the following museums:
American Civil War Museum
The Branch Museum of Architecture and Design
The Valentine
Virginia Holocaust Museum
Virginia Museum of History & Culture
Virginia Museum of Fine Arts
An air-conditioned motorcoach will travel to each of the six museums and attendees can select which museums they wish to visit, and get on and off the bus, free of charge.
