Hopper Hotel Experience Rules & Regulations

Please note the following rules and regulations regarding the Hopper Hotel Experience below.

  • The Hopper Hotel Experience is available to adults 21 years of age or older.  
  • VMFA staff will meet guests on arrival to guide them to the Hopper Hotel Experience.
    Arrival times are based upon museum public hours for the selected package/evening; departure time for all packages is 8:00 am. Guests may depart earlier. Please note if guests decide to depart early, re-admittance is not permitted.
  • Throughout the duration of the event, a VMFA security officer will be stationed outside the Hopper Hotel Experience space, monitoring the entry/exit of space and surrounding area. There are also monitored security cameras that will cover entry and exit into the space and monitor the surrounding area. 
  • Guests are not permitted to bring food or drink from outside the museum. The museum will provide bottled water, beverages, and pre-packaged snacks in the area adjacent to the Hotel Room space. In this adjacent space, there will be also furniture for guests to store their belongings and a small refrigerator. 
  • Guests will have access to a public bathroom adjacent to the Hopper Hotel Experience space; the bathroom is not accessible directly from the Hotel Room space. Please note that there are no bathing facilities.
  • The event space includes a large window into the exhibition galleries but is an entirely separate space; access to the exhibition galleries is limited to those packages that have guided tours.
  • Per standard museum policy, guests are not permitted to bring alcohol or drugs into the museum. There is no smoking or vaping allowed in the museum and outside access will not be permitted during the stay.
  • Exact evening schedule to be determined based on selected package and availability of staff for tour options included in higher-level packages. *If curator is unavailable, VMFA senior staff will provide tour.
  • The museum is not responsible for lost or damaged personal items. Should damage occur to the room or its contents during the event, guest(s) shall be liable. A credit card hold will be secured upon arrival.
  • As per museum policy for ticketed events, all Hopper Hotel Experience tickets are non-cancelable and non-refundable. VMFA charges a $30 fee to transfer your ticket to another date (if available), and a transfer must be made at least two weeks prior to the original booking date.
  • Please note that ticketing for the Hopper Hotel Experience does not preclude other events from being scheduled at the museum on the same evenings. Other museum or private events may be scheduled in other areas of the museum at any time.
  • Guests will be able to park in the VMFA Parking Deck overnight. Guests are responsible for their own transportation between the museum and off-site package inclusions for Hotel Greene.
