K–12 Special Exhibition Visit Request

This request form is for grades K-12.

Guided tours are offered the following days and times (excluding holidays and tour guide breaks):
- Mon: noon
- Tue–Fri: 10 am, 11 am, noon
- Sat–Sun: 11 am, noon
Later times during the day may be available upon request.

Self-directed visit requests must be submitted at least 3 weeks in advance.

Guided tour requests must be submitted at least 3 weeks in advance. Guided tours are booked based on Tour Guide and gallery availability.

Guided Tour & Ticket Information
October 21, 2023 – June 3, 2024

Evans Court Gallery, Level 2

Entrance is free and tickets are not required. Due to the size of the exhibition, a maximum of 2 guides with 15 students per guide can be booked for a tour. Tours are available at 10 am, 11 am, and noon, daily, excluding Mondays and holidays, and are subject to Tour Guide availability. Later times may be available, depending on Guide availability. If you book the maximum of 30 students, one group of 15 will spend about 25 minutes in Willie Anne Wright, while the other group looks at objects (with similar themes) in the permanent collection galleries, and for the second half of the tour, the groups will switch. The tour will last approximately 50 minutes.
- We require a minimum of ten students to book a guided tour and we require a minimum of one chaperone per ten students.
- All visits must be booked at least three weeks in advance.

Self-directed Visit Information

Guided Tour and Ticket Information
April 20, 2024 – August 4, 2024

Altria and Newmarket Galleries, Lower Level

Free for museum members. Non-member student tickets are $10 each. We offer 1 complimentary chaperone ticket per 10 students. Additional chaperone tickets are $12 each. Tours are available at 10 am, 11 am, and noon, daily, excluding Mondays and holidays, running April 27th thru August 6th, and are subject to Tour Guide availability. Later times may be available, depending on Guide availability. The maximum group size for a tour is 30 students & 5 chaperones combined. The tour will last approximately 45 minutes. Payment for tickets is required 14 days in advance of your visit. Tickets are subject to availability. For more information, please contact Tour Services at tourservices@vmfa.museum.

Self-directed Visit Ticket Information

Lunch Information

Lunch at the Museum*
- We would like to bring packed lunches and eat indoors in the lunch room. Note: The lunchroom is not available during the summer
- We will bring packed lunches and eat outdoors in the Sculpture Garden.
- We will purchase lunch items to eat in Best Café (packed lunches cannot be taken into the Café.)
If you would like to eat in the lunch room, you must reserve it at least two weeks in advance with the Special Events department. Capacity is 40 people at a time.

If the lunch room is not available, the group contact is responsible for making other arrangements. This is especially important if inclement weather is expected.

Tour Services does not book the lunch room.

Confirm and submit your request
The typical response time for a request is 5 business days. At the beginning of each school semester and during special exhibitions we receive a very high volume of visit requests. During those times, our response time may extend past 5 business days.

Once your request form has been processed, you will be contacted by Tour Services via email. If we are able to book your visit you will receive a confirmation email that includes our visit guidelines and parking map. The guidelines should be shared with teachers, chaperones, and students prior to your visit.
