Art in Action! Part 3: Marble Carving

Part 3 of this three-part series explores the connection between art and science through the process of marble carving. In this video, we follow artist Rick Delano as he works to create a sculpture out of marble. You will discover examples of marble sculptures in VMFA’s collection and gain a better understanding of how marble formed in the earth and how we can do tests to learn more about where it originated. You can also learn how to plan and carve your own sculpture from clay!
