This discussion activity helps students describe what they see or know and asks them to build explanations. It is a great way to facilitate an inquiry-based conversation about the ideas outlined in the object description.
There are two simple questions for this activity. The first question asks for an interpretation. The second asks for justification.
Who/what could this be?
What do you see that makes you say that?
As students justify their interpretations based on what they see, the teacher is able to confirm or re-frame their observations by integrating information about the object from the label or research.
