Meet the Educator
VMFA Distance Learning sessions are designed to be student-centered explorations. Use this video to introduce students to the Distance Learning Educator and the kind of interaction they will have during a session.
Take a Closer Look
Untitled #21 by Sammy Baloji
Spending time with a work of art can be an opportunity for thoughtful inquiry and ideation. For students, documenting ideas as they work to interpret an artwork offers the chance to exercise metacognition. With this interactive exercise, featuring an artwork by Congolese artist Sammy Baloji, students can gain insight into how they process information and formulate ideas about colonialism’s mark on Africa.
Use this interactive exercise to set the stage for a Distance Learning session, or for continued engagement after a visit.
