Although found in Macedon, this earring features the traditional Egyptian crown of Isis-a pair of horns flanking a sun disk-which emphasizes Isis’s role as mother goddess. Following the conquest of Egypt by Alexander the Great, Egyptian motifs enjoyed great popularity in the Greek world.
