Director of Corporate Relations
The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts Foundation seeks an enthusiastic, self-motivated, experienced individual for the role of Director of Corporate Relations. The Director of Corporate Relations is a senior level position responsible for developing strategies for the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of corporations (including corporate foundations) to further the mission of the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts. These responsibilities include strategies for the corporate membership program; corporate sponsorships of exhibitions, education programs, special projects, strategic plan initiatives, and other major corporate gifts, including those to VMFA’s comprehensive campaign.
The Director of Corporate Relations also manages the Corporate and Foundation Stewardship Coordinator with responsibilities including the writing of stewardship reports, benefit fulfillment, drafting of benefit acknowledgments, and tracking gifts and pledges and ensuring timely completion of all tasks to guarantee compliance with strict corporate and foundation deadlines.
Minimum Qualifications:
- A minimum of 5-7 years of successful corporate fundraising and relationship-building, preferably in an art-related or educational institution.
- Proven track record of securing gifts that align with corporate interests and the organization’s priorities through cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of donors.
- Strong knowledge of fundraising best practices and experience with creating and writing multifaceted corporate proposals.
- Ability to monitor corporate industry giving trends and strategically adapt fundraising strategies to align.
- Significant experience with collaborating proactively, strategically, and positively with diverse constituencies within the Advancement team, senior leadership team, board members, colleagues throughout the museum, as well as corporate executives and donors.
- Demonstrated ability to present compelling cases for support to corporate executives and decision-makers.
- High level of personal motivation, positivity, and a sense of urgency.
- Exceptional authentic, engaging, and persuasive communication and interpersonal skills that display tact and discretion.
- Proficiency with Raiser’s Edge or other fundraising database.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree.
