VMFA campers create & reflect

Kids summer camps are in full swing at the museum this week! The children are having a ball creating art at the MVW Art Education Center and learning about art in the galleries. From pastel still-life drawings to colorful sculptures, these summer camps offer a variety of artsy subjects to explore. After lunchtime today, a band of young artists returned to their classroom to create some more art. The kids sported paint-splattered VMFA t-shirts as smocks. An excited little girl asked, “Can we get messy again? I love getting messy. I just don’t like messy in my hair.”

This week, our summer art adventures included Art 101, Beginning Drawing, Elements in Painting, Drawing Compositions, and Creative Cultures. We still have seven weeks worth of kids camps to go, and something for every age. Check out the opportunities we have to offer your little artist here.
