Job Duties

The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts (VMFA) is seeking a dynamic individual to serve as our Construction Project Coordinator for the Museum’s expansion. The Project Coordinator will assist the Construction Manager in day-to-day coordination of the VMFA’s expansion and renovation project. The project will include a new addition of galleries and event spaces, as well as renovations to our current spaces. This position will coordinate and support all expansion efforts. In addition, this position will coordinate with agency leadership to support the daily management of overlapping and associated expansion and renovation projects-deferred maintenance (if applicable). This includes budget administration, construction meeting coordination, procurement, staff relocation as well as on-site construction scheduling and deliverables.

Minimum Qualifications

Experience with administrating building construction projects and/or high-level administrative project coordinator experience. Procurement experience and/or a willingness to learn is essential. Experience working on a construction project in an operations and administrative capacity. Flexibility in terms of handling multiple tasks; ability to prioritize and work under pressure; willingness and ability to work evenings and weekends as required; ability to work as a team member, occasionally helping other areas of the office; ability to work independently. Requires high level of confidentiality.

Additional Considerations

Experience and skills typically gained from attaining a bachelor’s degree in business or public administration from an accredited college or university. Experience as an Executive Assistant in a fast-paced office environment preferred. A high degree of proficiency in PowerPoint and the Microsoft Office suite is essential. High degree of verbal and written communication skills and abilities. Ability to use discretion and independent decision-making. Commonwealth of Virginia project experience is a plus, but not required.
