The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts (VMFA) Seeks a Performing Arts Program Coordinator!

About the Role:
The Performing Arts Program Coordinator plays a pivotal role in developing, implementing, and overseeing a dynamic program schedule that reflects VMFA’s mission and strategic goals. This role requires a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual with excellent communication, administration, and interpersonal skills.

· Develop & Implement: Develop, coordinate, and administer a dynamic performing arts program schedule aligned with VMFA’s mission.
· Logistics & Operations: Manage event logistics, agreements, budgets, and licensing contracts, overseeing all set-ups and breakdowns of programs.
· Marketing & Promotion: Collaborate with Marketing & PR to create and distribute program materials, attracting new audiences.
· Collaboration & Support: Work with colleagues across departments to deliver exceptional programs.
· Evaluation & Growth: Utilize data to assess program success and maintain up-to-date industry knowledge.
· Support Education Initiatives: Assist the Education Department with outreach and program needs as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

· Minimum 2-3 years of experience in performing arts programming or a relevant field.
· Strong understanding of current trends in performing arts programming.
· Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
· Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and project management software.
· Must be able to consistently work nights, weekends, and specialty events.

Additional Considerations

Preferred Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Arts & Entertainment Management, Arts Administration or a related field (or equivalent experience)
· Experience with budgeting and financial management a plus.
