It has been suggested that this image shows Akhenaten cutting a sheaf of wheat as part of his coronation ceremony, when wheat was presented to Min, a god of male fertility. He wears the Blue Crown, a ceremonial headdress that emphasizes the mortal activities of the pharaoh. If this identification is correct, this relief would be the only coronation scene from the Amarna period and would suggest that Akhenaten continued at least some traditional religious practices.
