Xiangshan Park, or the Fragrant Hills, was Emperor Qianlong’s favorite garden and is now a popular public park in northwest Beijing. Qianlong spoke fondly of this mountainous area, and artist Liu Yin captured its enchanting appearance after a fresh snowfall with a dark, ink-washed background contrasting the snow-covered peaks, trees, and structures throughout.
