In this couplet, Prince Cheng, Yong Xing, the son of Emperor Qianlong, transcribes a poem composed during the Song dynasty by scholar-artist Lin Bu (967– 1028). The calligraphic text describes how Lin enjoyed nature and reading in his reclusive life at Mount Gu, located outside Hangzhou in southern China.
