The most beloved goddess of the Buddhist pantheon, Tara is the savior, the protector, and the nurturer of seekers on the spiritual path. In Esoteric or Vajrayana Buddhism, she appears in many forms, which are regarded as manifestations of the Five Cosmic Buddhas. Green Tara is an emanation of Amoghasiddhi, the Cosmic Buddha of the north. Gracious and kind, she extends her right hand in the gift-giving gesture, and she holds the long stem of a lotus in her left. These and the other blooms that surround her are emblems of the abundance and nourishment that she offers to her worshippers.
