Antoine-Louis Barye, French, 1796 - 1875 (Artist)
Barye made at least sixteen sculptures of single figures of dogs. This splendid small cast is marked and numbered with Barye’s personal stamps, indicating it was made under his direct super-vision while he operated his foundry.
Signed on proper right of base: "BARYE"
Stamped middle front of base rim: "BARYE 16"; 2 Mellon labels on bottom
