Mirotsu, once a picturesque fishing village in Western Japan facing the Pacific Ocean, was developed into a port town in the early 20th century. In this print created in 1950, Hasui illustrated a rainy scene, featuring residential houses and a street shrine, and an alley leading to a zig-zag dock over the water. The fine, slanting lines of the rain integrate the misty islands and the distant horizon to create a sense of oneness.
