Signed in graphite on verso lower left: P. Zekonis
Inscribed in ink beneath image in center of page: Most of the time this place is covered in white./ Tarps shroud the antiquities. Bulbs, strategically/ placed, unfold their rounded heads quietly underneath./ Everything looks different. Steampipes pump heat/ that clouds the mullioned windows with icy veils./ The sky broadens, camouflaging stretches of brick./ Wandering off, I dream. Single flakes in the air/ aid in the formation of memories behind my eyes./ These walkways creep in all directions like a tangled/ pit of snakes. In some way they represent escape/ between two dreams of a similar shape. Two/ years and something special. One can't tell what may/ be next. I learn this for the first time. I am told/ to open my eyes because a secret is hidden there. Inscribed in graphite on verso lower right: 7/25. Inscribed in graphite on verso on lower edge in center: Shroud
