These lacquered chairs are identical to ones in black that were designed for the French Embassy Smoking Room, which was part of the Pavilion of the Society of Artists-Decorators at the 1925 International Exhibition of Decorative Arts in Paris. Two hammered vases, also in this gallery, are examples of Dunand’s earliest work in lacquer.
