Brother to / Tarrare declined beforehe reached the summit of the hill, where the running was taken up by Chancellor. The other horses maintained their respective / positions until they reached the Red-House, where La Fille Mal Gardee passed Chancellor. On approaching the white rails, The Saddler came up, and / looked like the winner. On arriving at the distance, The Saddler passed La Fille Mal Gardee, apparently winning: immediately afterwards Chorister / challenged, a struggle ensuing betwixt him and The Saddler, and ultimately won the race in a most admirable manner by half a head only. La Fille / Mal Gardee was third, although not placed; Lady Elizabeth fourth, and Liverpool and Chancellor fifth and sixth. Inscribed in graphite in upper right and lower right corners: 12.
