Croix de vie (Primary Title)
Paul Signac, French, 1863 - 1935 (Artist)
Signac, much like his contemporaries, dedicated a large portion of his work to the depiction of French seaside resort towns. This boldly colored and joyously nationalistic watercolor was intended for exhibition or sale. It demonstrates Signac’s mature style evident in the intense color patterning in the brickwork and colorful reflections in the water.
