Based on the woman’s distinctive costume with a tambourine and castanets, this poster most likely advertised the debut of Isita in the lead role of Georges Bizet’s Carmen. One of the most popular operas in Paris at the time, the performance would have been a career-defining moment for Isita, necessitating a grand advertisement by one of the most famous artists of the day.
