One of the buildings at the 1925 International Exhibition of Decorative Arts held in Paris represented a French embassy. The building’s 25 interiors, arranged around a central court, were furnished by well-known members of the society of Artist-Decorators, including André Groult. This chair was created for the “Bedroom of the Wife of the French Ambassador.” All of the furniture was rounded and covered in sharkskin, a material that Groult often used in his designs. Nearby in this gallery there is an earlier sideboard by Groult that is also ornamented with sharkskin.
