Portraits of Old Carriage-Horses in His Late Majesty's Stud at Windsor (Primary Title)
Richard Barrett Davis, English, 1782 - 1854 (Artist)
Davis offers a momentary glimpse into the daily routine at the royal stables. The horses are being readied for exercise. The discarded blankets on the stable floor and the posture of the grooms strike a seemingly sad tone that might allude to the recent death of the horses’ owner, King George III.
