Waiting at the Meet (Primary Title)
Edwin Cooper, English, 1785 - 1833 (Artist)
This painting shows a pair of hounds coupled together at the feet of the dapple-grey at left, which has a coupling collar on its saddle. This practice enabled an older hound to educate a younger one in the field. The master of this hunt may be the top-hatted rider in the center.
Inscribed at lower left, "E. n Cooper Pinxt / 1832"
