Charger with a Groom (Former Title)

This charger, or military horse, sports a saddle holster covered with a black fur flounce. However, the owner of this proudly displayed example is not known because the livery of the groom has not yet been identified. This painting demonstrates the extreme simplicity that sometimes characterized Stubbs’s pictorial style.
