This type of deep tea bowl with its solid form was suitable for winter, while "summer" bowls were more shallow and broad. Attributed to Sonyu, a 5th generation Raku master, this handmade tea bowl covered with a mottled black glaze has a sense of tranquility that appealed to tea masters.
