Along the Taedong River, which runs through Pyongyang, the capital of North Korea, Moran Park is a thriving setting within the city limits. It contains several ancient pavilions, including the Chongryu Pavilion, depicted here, that sits atop cliffs overlooking the Taedong River. Japanese landscape artist Kawase Hasui, traveled to Korea in 1939 and made a series of sketches of Korean landmarks, which he later developed into woodblock prints.
