Tie Bao was a leading calligrapher and court official of the Qing dynasty. This couplet displays his balanced form and dynamic strokes, exemplifying that calligraphy is not only an artistic form but also an expression of the writer’s character and emotions: The spirit as high as the clouds, the mind as lucid as the moon; The gentle temperament like spring, the upheld integrity like autumn.
