This closer view of Jade Islet shows one of its most recognizable landmarks, the White Pagoda. Built in 1651 during the Qing dynasty, this pagoda demonstrates a fusion of traditional Chinese and Tibetan religious architecture. Ferrymen drift around the islet, and the roofs and treetops of Beijing are visible in the distance.
