Blanketed in mist, Lugou Bridge rests above the rippling waters of the Yongding River. Located in a bustling district in southern Beijing, this bridge was constantly traversed by merchants, travelers, and horse-drawn carriages. Liu’s centuries-old image provides a valuable visual record of the site, as today this section of the river is entirely dried up.
