Kilns producing wares such as this honey pot during the Angkorian period were located in the provinces surrounding the temples of Angkor in Cambodia and in the Isan region of present-day Thailand. Khmer ceramics from this period were typically created for domestic ritual use rather than for cross-cultural trade. These wares are usually decorated with a dark brown, iron-based glaze, rhythmic decorations, and in some examples zoomorphic forms. This honey pot includes the attributes of a bird, withthe beak and eyes on one side and the tail just above the handle.
