Twelve Peaks at Wu Gorge (Translation)
巫峽十二峰 近現代 金志遠 紙本設色 (Primary Title)
Jin Zhiyuan 金志遠, Chinese, 1930 - 1984 (Artist)
The Twelve Peaks is the most popular scenic area at Wu Gorge along the Yangtze River, located between Chongqing and Hubei provinces. The inscription narrates the legend of the Goddess Peak, often regarded as the most beautiful peak among the twelve at Wu Gorge. To illustrate the tortuous path of the Yangtze River and the majesty and grace of the Twelve Peaks, Zhiyuan applied various dry and wet ink, contrasts of light and dark, and atmospheric perspective to convey a mysterious quality.
