Located about one hundred miles north of Tokyo, at the foot of Mount Nantai, Kegon Falls is one of Japan’s tallest and most historic waterfalls. Using a range of intricate printing techniques, here Hasui depicts hanging cliffs, rushing waters, and changing leaves. Kegon Falls is now part of Nikko National Park, which in autumn receives a host of tourists who come to see the surrounding forest in vibrant shades of yellow, red, and orange.
