With his expressive brushwork, Li Kuchan transcribes the Tang-dynasty poem In Praise of My Humble Home and captures the spirit of its author, Chinese poet Liu Yuxi (772-842). The couplet reads 苔痕上階綠, 草色入簾青:

 

The trance of moss creeping onto the steps turns green,

The color of grass entering the blinds turns blue.
