Double Statue of Man and Woman (Primary Title)
Unknown (Artist)
Egyptian funerary sculpture often depicted family groups; although there is no inscription, this statue probably depicts a married couple. The statues’ poses-left foot forward for the man, feet together for the woman-were a convention of Egyptian art for over three thousand years.
