Edward Colonna, designer of jewelry, ceramics, textiles and furniture, worked in France in the early 1890s. There he began his most important creations in the innovative Art Nouveau style. From 1898 to 1903 Colonna was associated with Siegfried Bing and his L’Art Nouveau gallery in Paris. This settee and armchair, retailed at Bing’s gallery, are similar to examples displayed at Bing’s Art Nouveau pavilion at the Paris World’s Fair in 1900. (See nearby image).
