Mount Fuji, a sacred peak and the symbol of Japan, is an important setting in Hasui’s prints of the 1930s. Unlike Hasui’s many other mountain landscapes with human figures, boats, houses, and villages in the foreground, this print shows only a snow-covered tree and the waters of Tagonoura Beach before a majestic volcano.
