The Kintai Bridge was constructed at the foot of Mount Yokoyama in the western part of Japan in 1673. Spanning the Nishiki River, the bridge is 660 feet long and has a series of five wooden arches. Its elegant form inspired the name of Kintai, which means “golden sash.” In spring, cherry blossoms enliven the banks of the river, where crowds gather for the cherry blossom festival.
