Influenced by the British Arts and Crafts movement, William H. Bradley’s posters stood out from his peers’ through his intricately detailed line art and decorative borders. Inspired by the public’s growing interest in posters, in 1895 publisher Charles Scribner released The Modern Poster, the first book exploring the art of commercial lithographs. Along with this poster that also served as the book’s cover, Bradley designed the book’s binding, frontispiece, and illustrations. A print of this lithograph came inside each copy of the book.
